I have been so busy lately, I have been neglecting my poor blog. This last weekend was some of the most fun I have EVER had, I had to bump it to the top of my blog list. The San Diego Derby Dolls hosted the 3rd annual Battle on the Bank tournament at the San Diego fair.  There was teams from Seattle, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Los Angeles and a group of national All Stars. My team ( the Hard Corps) finished 6th out of 8 teams. Which I think is amazing considering it was not only mine, but more than half of the girls on my team, first time skating in a banked track game. The San Diego All Stars were victorious in claiming the national championship on the banked track for the 2nd year in a row!! I am so proud to be a derby doll and to have such awesome skaters as coaches, mentors and friends! 

The last day of the tournament I didn’t have to worry about skating, so I brought my camera along to capture a little bit of this amazing weekend!

Tierney traveled all the way from Washington State down to San Diego to get her Senior pictures taken! 

She wanted to get some pictures on the beach in her prom dress. I LOVED her dress!!! 

Kolby is just as smart as she is pretty! After High School she is going to College and is going to major in astrophysics so that one day she can be an astronaut!! How cool is that?!! Here are some of my favorite images from her Senior shoot.

This last weekend the San Diego Derby Dolls were able to host our first Swarm bout, here at the Del Mar fairgrounds. The Swarm is a San Diego banked track roller derby team that competes within the Los Angeles Derby Dolls league. I brought my camera to the bout, but it was hard to focus on taking pictures because I was so excited cheering my girls on!

I have been selling a lot of  fine art prints lately, which in turn has inspired me to shoot more. =) A couple weeks ago we went to the Stephen Birch Aquarium.  It was fascinating to see all the different species of sea life there are, and I couldn’t help but get an overwhelming sense of calm when I was shooting. Here are some of my favorites from the day:

The jellyfish tank was by far my favorite! I could watch them swim for hours.

Since moving back to San Diego I have discovered a new passion…. ROLLER DERBY! No it’s not the fake WWF style made famous in the 1970’s. This is a REAL sport, that is intense and competitive and has pushed my body to limits I never thought possible. I have made some great friends and it is so awesome to be a small part of something so AMAZING!! 

The San Diego Derby Dolls are the nations first hybrid league of both banked track (the inclined surface) and flat track (on the ground) roller derby. Our home bouts are at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, come check them out!! =)

My baby girl turned 2 years old yesterday!!! It has been raining like crazy this week, so the poor kid had a wet Birthday. I think I need to get her a cuter rain coat though, she borrowed that one from her brother. Happy Birthday Ava!!
